Prior to Workshop About a week prior to the workshop going
ahead at your school the JCMA Schools Program Coordinator
Janette Witt or another representative from JCMA will
contact you either by phone or with a school visit. At
this visit all preparations for the workshop will be
confirmed as well as ensuring that the venue is suitable
and the students and staff are prepared for the workshop.
At this visit we will also discuss the needs of the school
and its locality and see if there are any issues the
school wishes the workshop to focus on and address.
JCMA requires that a short survey be filled out by staff
and students participating in the workshop prior to us
attending. This staff survey is online under staff surveys,
and the students’ surveys can be found in their
section. If required they can be downloaded and printed
out then given to the presenters at the workshop or posted
or faxed to JCMA.
Venue requirements include a video machine and screen
visible to all so that students can watch a short video
presentation.8 minutes- short video presentation on
current interfaith projects in Australia.
8 minutes- Presentation by Jewish panel member
8 minutes- Presentation by Muslim panel member
8 minutes- Presentation by Christian panel member
5 minutes- break up into groups of approx 15, each group
with one staff member to facilitate.
30 minutes – small group discussions
20 minutes – break including food
20 minutes – Questions to panel members.
Total Time - Approx 1 hour 47 minutes
As this workshop needs to fit in with the school timetable
and available time within each school it maybe that some
schools may need to shorten the length of time for the
break, and food may need to be provided at the end, or
in some cases there may be some time available for extra
discussions and questions amongst the group. Given the
nature of the above timing it is preferable that schools
can give approximately 2 hours to run this workshop effectively.
The small group discussions
Prior to the workshops going ahead at your school JCMA
will be distributing information for staff as to how
to conduct these small group discussions. JCMA will provide
the aims and topics for the small group discussions,
including pertinent questions to ask students, discussion
points to raise and any other leading topics.
Following the workshop both staff and students will be
required to fill out the post workshop surveys which
are online and can be downloaded. Please let Janette
know prior to the workshops if you wish these surveys
in paper form so that they can be filled out in class
time after the workshop. Staff and student feedback is
essential to this project so that a proper evaluation
can occur.
